Magic Day At Punchestown!
A super Saturday for the yard yesterday with us having our first festival success at Punchestown with Call It Magic winning the Dooley Insurance cross country chase.
Racing is a funny game with many twists and turns and highs and lows, after the drama of Thursday’s race in the La Touché Cup it was just unbelievable that 48 hrs later, we were celebrating victory with Magic given an excellent ride by Keith Donoghue, you just never know what’s around the corner in racing.
Call It Magic is part of the furniture at this stage, a horse that in his younger days showed huge potential winning his point to point first time out by 25 lengths and following on from that winning his bumper in Cork with Katie by ten lengths. Injuries didn’t help along the way but he did win 3 chases with Ruby, one of them being at Galway.
He brought us on many adventures such as running well in Aintree over the big fences in the Beecher Chase and also running a cracker in the Irish National. We thought we were running out of options with him until we tried the cross country route and it has just given him a new lease of life.
Yesterday was a very special day, it meant a lot to me but also to the team who work very hard at Greenhills.
Thanks Magic.
